Hedonism II: The Resort For Everyone

If you’re looking for the ultimate getaway, a place where you can truly let your hair down and let it all hang out (wink, wink), you might be thinking about going to Negril, Jamaica to the Hedonism II Resort. Going topless is de rigueur and guests are invited to “turn your fantasies into reality” and to “experience what you only read about in erotic novels.” I mean, the word hedonism itself means “the pursuit of pleasure and sensual self-indulgence.”

But however scandalous all of that sounds and whatever picture you might have in your mind about what you’ll find at Hedonism II, I’ll have to ask you to think again. I was invited to spend a few days at Hedonism II and discovered that it was much more than I was expecting.

First, let me assure you that Hedonism II does not engage in false advertising. This is an all-inclusive, adult-only resort, and clothing—even if it’s some sort of fetish costume—is required only in public spaces like the on-site restaurants. But it was refreshing to find that you don’t have to wear your birthday suit if you don’t want to. In fact, most of the resort is clothing-optional and you won’t be a killjoy or stick out like a sore thumb if you opt to keep your clothes on.

Another misconception about Hedonism II is that wild, unadultered—er—fun occurs unchecked in the streets and on the beaches all day and night. The resort has designated locations and occasions to be wild and unadultered, it is not one big bacchanal. And no one has to watch unless you want them to.

So what other kinds of fun can you have at Hedonism II?

By Water
In addition to swimming in Negril’s beautiful turquoise waters and lounging on the beach, you can go sailing, kayaking or paddleboarding. Enroll in windsurfing school or learn how to snorkel and scuba dive. Why not play a game of pool in the pool? Hedonism II also has three fresh water pools, swim-up pool bars, jacuzzis and a waterfall lagoon for your aquatic enjoyment.

By Land
If you’d rather stay beachside, there’s more than enough to do to keep you entertained. Join in a beach volleyball game or play tennis all day—or night on the lighted tennis courts! And if you’re new to tennis, sign up for one of the clinics to get the basics. Get active with basketball, ping pong (table tennis), badminton and shuffleboard. Play a game of giant chess, best your last score in the gaming lounge, or get lost in your own world in the reading room.

Don’t forget to check out the fitness center! The certified personal trainers will help you meet and surpass your fitness goals in the state-of-the-art facility. And what’s a tropical resort without a spa? At the full service sanctuary at Hedonism II, you can enjoy specialty massages and facials, skin and body treatments, the sauna, steam room and whirlpool.

Dine and Party
My first night there, I had a delicious dinner at Flame, Hedonism’s new beachfront chop house and the third specialty restaurant to come to the resort. I also enjoyed Japanese-style cuisine one evening at Harrysan, another of the on-site restaurants. I hung out at Rick’s Café, a bar/restaurant/lounge in downtown Negril for Happy Hour and took in dinner and a show in the main dining room at the resort. After dinner one night, I participated in a glow pool party with  complimentary plastic glow gear. I also experienced an entertainment night that included (optional) leather and lace clothing.

More
I took a pole dancing class and had a private cooking lesson with the resort’s own Chef Miller! And special events, like a massage therapy class for women, take place at the resort’s Romping Shop—the place where several private, exclusive events take place at Hedonism II.

You don’t have to be a marketing exec to know that sex sells, and Hedonism II does an excellent job of advertising the uniqueness of its resort compared to others. But the bonus of Hedonism II is that it can double as your standard tropical resort. So whether you pursue your pleasure with clothes on or without them, Hedonism II has something to offer everyone.
